Subsidies..going..going...gone....

Today,my fellow countrymen and I received the dreaded news that we knew would come. The government is moving ahead with the gradual removal of subsidies. From midnight to night prices of petrol, diesel, sugar,LPG,cooking gas is set to increase. Tomorrow,we can expect to hear from some economics 'analysts' on why this HAD to be done. These are just the MO of the BN government.

We the people do not mind the reductions for subsidies resulting in the price increases for the said items. We are well aware of our social duties in this regard. What we are afraid of is the inevitable profiteering by businesses from all sectors that will use this as a reason to increase the prices of essential goods like rice, cooking oil, flour, eggs, chickens, meats, vegetables and all other essential goods that we need to sustain ourselves.

Already we are finding it hard just to get by. While the government is within it's rights to affect such subsidy reductions,we too are within our rights to question the government on it's unwillingness to look at alternatives to manage the finances of the country such as :-

-Rm 4bil budget for the PM Department with over 40,000 staffs
-Wasteful mega projects
-Endemic corruption
-Reluctance to introduce minimum wage
-Overpaid and unproductive civil servants
-Bloated bureaucracy in all goverment departments
-Continuos blind eye to cronies mismanagement of funds like PKFZ
-Increased spending for defense and arms purchases
-Blatant robbery through under table dealings with no transparency
-No tenders despite assurances for major projects to save cost
-Not willing to segregate the subsidies according to income
-Not willing to make foreign registered vehicles to pay the market rate that they can afford

Instead they took the easiest solution available and in the process is condemning millions of us to an uncertain future. Where we will have bleak future for us and our families to keep funding these megalomaniacs that is robbing us blind!!!

We are talking about essential goods here not luxury items which we have long ago abandoned in order to survive. Expect also some BN ministers with reassuring comments on how the poor will be insulated from the rising costs without any plans whatsoever on how that will be achieved.

As it is our RM50 note is worth only RM30 maybe less in real terms and now.....the same RM50 note is worth RM20 or even less than that while strive as we might we cannot earn more without dying on our feets from exhaustion.

The BN government has fired their last salvo and we the people will FIRE back come election time with our own version of C4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
