Perkasa - UMNO's illegitimate child

The ultra malay representative NGO known as Perkasa led by the halt wit,party jumper Ibrahim Ali is really the product of the neglect and disenchantment that is felt by the malays by UMNO. It is growing bolder by the day and UMNO it seems is helpless to stop it.

The malays feels sidelined from the mainstream economy which is by and large owned by the chinese. If a malay wants to buy a pencil,he would most probably buy it from a chinese. UMNO perpetuated this feeling of helplessness by making the malays dependent on the government for just about anything as long as they voted for UMNO or BN.

Under the guise of affirmative action,UMNO enriched it's powerful and connected warlords through blatant corruption at every opportunity at the expense of the malays they claim to represent. UMNO became a company for free money and lush under the table deals and for a while they got away with it.
But,the global interconnectedness of the economy soon awakened the masses.

The malays began to realise that they are getting poorer by the day..The cost of living climbed higher that they can cope. They turned to anyone who will voice out on their behalf since UMNO was no longer listening anymore. No one was it seemed until Perkasa came along riding on this disenchantment.

So to blame Ibrahim Ali or even to villify and crucify him of his views is just to simplistic and misses the bigger issue.

I was born in 1970 in Johore Bahru. And growing up in those days was an absolute joy when Internet,Smartphones were still just a concept. My mom worked at the Blood bank at the Hospital and we stayed at the Goverment Housing at Jalan Haji Yaacob close by. The times indeed have changed. We had an Indian family as our neighbor and we always always got along just fine. I had friends of all races and wore shorts to primary school. It wasn't a big deal. The slide to Mazism....

Malaysia it seems is sliding dangerously towards a version of Nazism which I term as Mazism due to the constant and unrelenting use of race, religion, royalty. As with the Nazi's the new mushrooming of groups, NGO's etc promotes Malay pride (Master Race), anti jews, anti chinese and expresses dissatisfaction with things like  ICERD  without the need for proper dialogue and consultations. Sound familiar? And the authorities are slow to identify and curb such extremists views and allowing for these pressure groups with nefarious motives and intentions to gain traction and support throughout the malay citizens. What are they thinking? I am all for freedom of expression but when a group of people can threaten chaos if things doesn't go their way well....need I say more? Perhaps someone has to get hurt before we realise that this is a problem. And this is supposedly a New Malaysia. Civil Service = Free Money (Malaysian Context)

Malaysia in the late 60's and throughout the 70's all the way to the late 80's without a doubt had one of the best civil service in this region. The whole government machinery was highly respected and they did a wonderful job of bringing this nation out of it's agricultural economy into the manufacturing and knowledge based economy. That in turn brought the mass population out of poverty and the middle class was born in this era. The shock of the market crash in the late 80's was well managed and the people didn't suffer too many hardship as a result. The civil servants were mostly professional and English was well spoken among them and they were regarded at the international level. Somehow slowly but surely the quality of the civil service began to go down soon after. The civil service became the domain of politicians that brought with them cronyism and corruption into the decision making processes of policies and projects implemented by the government.
