Civil Service = Free Money (Malaysian Context)

Image
Malaysia in the late 60's and throughout the 70's all the way to the late 80's without a doubt had one of the best civil service in this region. The whole government machinery was highly respected and they did a wonderful job of bringing this nation out of it's agricultural economy into the manufacturing and knowledge based economy. That in turn brought the mass population out of poverty and the middle class was born in this era. The shock of the market crash in the late 80's was well managed and the people didn't suffer too many hardship as a result. The civil servants were mostly professional and English was well spoken among them and they were regarded at the international level. Somehow slowly but surely the quality of the civil service began to go down soon after. The civil service became the domain of politicians that brought with them cronyism and corruption into the decision making processes of policies and projects implemented by the government.

The Clue Less Clan Playing The Victim

Image
Everyday it seems that the Clue Less Clan of our dear Ex PM is in the news and their strategy so far has not done them any good. They are doing everything they think might stick and nothing it seems is off the table. And the whole family is in on it and I understand that... From the daughter to the son to even the grandchild and a housecat, all are mobilised to somehow 'cleanse' their father's image to us and the world. And if that's not enough they have some diehard supporters to constantly irritate us all by spouting nonsense and acting like hooligans for the sole purpose of just defending this one man who has :- -Robbed -Lied -Cheated -Abuse his Office -Sold out our country -Intimidate using all available means -Sowing racial and religious discord -Some go as far to say even murder? They fail to acknowledge what's right in front of their noses, crying nonsensical political persecution for anyone willing to hear. Forgetting the FACTS that is already

And so it begins.......Ex PM Dato Sri Najib Bin Razak arrested!!

Image
By now news has probably spread around the world that our Ex PM Najib has been arrested by MACC at his residence and it's believed he will be brought to court tomorrow. Wow!! I never thought we would see the day but here we are. And so it begins.... As we watch this unfold I am reminded by this story :- A long time ago in a small village somewhere there lived a zen master and the villagers often seeks his wisdom when anything of significance happens in the village. 'One day....there's a little boy and on his 14th birthday he gets a horse... and everybody in the village says, "how wonderful. The boy got a horse" And the Zen master says, "we'll see." Two years later, the boy falls off the horse, breaks his leg, and everyone in the village says, "How terrible." And the Zen master says, "We'll see." Then, a war breaks out and all the young men have to go off and fight... except the boy can't cause his legs all messed

Myopia of Race / Religion

Image
MYOPIA Near-sightedness , also known as short-sightedness and myopia , is a condition of the eye where light focuses in front of, instead of on, the retina . [1] This causes distant objects to be blurry while close objects appear normal. [1] Other symptoms may include headaches and eye strain . [1 There is a 'disease' amongst us and it afflicts most people and I term it as 'myopia of race/religion'. It manifests it's symptoms in profound ways that can be dangerous. The tendency to view life in the narrow viewpoint of race and religion is overwhelming in this country it seems these days. I was born in the 70's and I cannot recall any bias other than the normal day to day stereotypes we had of the different communities around us. There was never any violence or threats of violence just being of a different race or religion. These two issues has been used brilliantly by heads of governments the world over to suppress free thought and to divi
