Message From A Malaysian Voter I am 47 years old, married male and a father of 3 kids. I run a small cafe in a small town that most of you probably never heard of before. I have never voted before and will be voting for the first time this next GE. The reason is because I feel that NOT voting this time around with all that I see happening to my country would be a terrible mistake! I feel that even if my vote will probably not change the dire conditions we are in at least my conscience will be clear. I am powerless otherwise to effect change when half the country seems to be filled with idiots, bigots, racists and religious zealots who have nothing better to do than sow turmoil and divide us further as citizens of this great country. I feel powerless and lost and agitated by what I read, hear and watch. WTF is happening is anyone’s guess. The party that has been leading Malaysia ever since independence is facing a sad demise. The once powerful,proud and priveleged party has been reduced to a mere shadow of itself due to it's own rank and file. The people are slowly getting restless by the mediocre leadership. The party is wholly infested with corrupt and mediocre people and low quality rank and file members whose only purpose is to get 'cables' to secure any contracts or government positions for themselves. There is an absolute dearth of quality leader or leadership in this poor excuse of a political party. It is quite simply a 'free enterprise' for those savvy or without any conscience to get rich quickly at the expense of the country. Why some are still clinging on and supports this dumb, corrupt outfit is amazing to me. 

The main gripe I have with Malaysia is the mediocrity in everything we do... Our systems,our politicians,our businesses....all seem to share a malaise of mediocrity.  Looking around..nothing and no one really stands out for me. They all look and feel the same..Customer service?? I don't think anyone of our  Govt.Dept's or businesses really give a damn!  People first? Where?? Show me... Performance now?? For who????

Today,my fellow countrymen and I received the dreaded news that we knew would come. The government is moving ahead with the gradual removal of subsidies. From midnight to night prices of petrol,diesel,sugar,LPG,cooking gas is set to increase. Tomorrow,we can expect to hear from some economics 'analysts' on why this HAD to be done. These are just the MO of the BN government. We the people do not mind the reductions for subsidies resulting in the price increases for the said items. We are well aware of our social duties in this regard. What we are afraid of is the inevitable profiteering by businesses from all sectors that will use this as a reason to increase the prices of essential goods like rice,cooking oil,flour,eggs,chickens,meats,vegetables and all other essential goods that we need to sustain ourselves. The ultra malay representative NGO known as Perkasa led by the halt wit,party jumper Ibrahim Ali is really the product of the neglect and disenchantment that is felt by the malays by UMNO. It is growing bolder by the day and UMNO it seems is helpless to stop it. The malays feels sidelined from the mainstream economy which is by and large owned by the chinese. If a malay wants to buy a pencil,he would most probably buy it from a chinese. The suffering for ordinary Malaysians continues by the day while the executives are playing politics to safeguard their powers and privileges. It's been more than two years since the last G.E where the BN promised us change ! That promised change is nowhere to be seen while the country is preoccupied in mud slinging from both sides of the aisle. The rakyat can only look on as all the govts arsenal from the police,MACC,judiciary,ISA,OSA,SPRM,Home Ministry are brought to bear on the Pakatan Rakyat. All this is happening on a faster pace lately and the people are getting impatient with it all. Today our dear PM extolled to UMNO members in Pulai not to fear Singapore that intends to invest in the mega govt project at Iskandar Development Region. So....it has come to this then. Our country that is rich in terms of natural resources has to kow tow to our well managed neighbor down south to plead and protect their interest so that they will come and invest in Johore. Iskandar Development Region was the brainchild of the government and so far aside from sporadic investment news from Lego to build a Lego World Theme Park there not much else is known on the progress of the whole project. This leads me to believe that all this is just a desperate attempt to convince our southern neighbor to invest in a place that others are not interested in. The reasons are many and top among the list is corruption and bureaucracies from the myriads of govt institutions even before any project can be approved,let alone started in IDR. Foreign investors have no time for such things...
